TUCSON – Federal misdemeanor charges have been dropped against Caitlin Deighan, Zoe Anderson, Logan Hollarsmith and Rebecca Grossman-Richeimer, members of the No More Deaths organization.
Those four volunteers have each been fined $250 for civil infractions, said a statement from the No More Death organization.
Four other volunteers were convicted of federal misdemeanors earlier this year – their sentencing is scheduled for Friday in U.S. District Court, Tuscon. Each of those defendants faces possible prison time and a fine of up to $10,000.
Another volunteer, Scott Warren, continues to await trial both on misdemeanor and felony charges for his work in the Ajo corridor.
No More Deaths volunteers leave water, food, socks, blankets, and other supplies along remote trails intended for illegal immigrants.
The group’s efforts litter the environment and provided supplies for human traffickers and drug smugglers.
Deighan, Anderson, Hollarsmith and Grossman-Richeimer were charged with entering a national wildlife refuge without a permit. Deighan was also charged with driving in a wilderness area.
