SUSPECT WAS CONVICTED IN OREGON OF RAPE AND FORGERY

NOGALES –  Juan Maldonado-Martinez, 38, a previously deported Mexican national with a violent criminal history, was arrested by Border Patrol agents after he sneaked across the border east of Nogales.

While conducting a records check on Maldonado-Martinez, agents found his Oregon convictions for rape in the third degree in 2003 and forgery in the first degree in 2004, said a release from Customs and Border Protection, Arizona.

Maldonado will remain in federal custody to face felony immigration prosecution.

All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks which include forensic technology to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
