Goodyear man sentenced for sex exploitation of 11-year-old girl

PHOENIX –  Derek Scott Rodriguez, 35, was sent to prison for 23.5 years, after pleaded guilty in January   to two felony counts each of sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

Rodriguez took sexually explicit photographs of an 11-year-old girl while she was a guest in his home, said a release from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

The victim told her family the same day that the photographs had been taken by Rodriguez.

Investigators from the Goodyear Police Department found that additional images of sexually exploited children were downloaded from the internet onto his home computer.

After Rodriguez completes his prison term, he will be placed on supervised lifetime probation and will register as a sex offender.

Assistant Attorney General Blaine Gadow was the prosecutor in the case.
