MARICOPA SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING INCIDENTS OF PARCEL THIEVERY

LICHFIELD PARK — A “porch pirate,” 33 year-old Ericka Cindy Arvizo, was arrested by Maricopa County Sheriff’s detectives, after she allegedly stole a package from a residence in Litchfield Park.

The sheriff’s office  received a call on Sept. 6 about an Amazon delivery that had gone missing from the recipient’s front porch.

Detectives followed up on the case and developed leads including a license plate for the suspect’s vehicle, said a statement from the sheriff’s office.

After conducting covert surveillance on Arvin’s residence on Feb. 27, detectives attempted to contact the suspect, but she fled from the scene of foot.

Arvizo was located about a mile north of the residence, near 75th Ave and Indian School Road in Phoenix.

“Incidences of so-called “porch pirate” thefts are on the increase and MCSO will continue to be vigilant in pursuing and arresting those who commit this crime,” the MCSO release said. “Recipients can do their part by tracking packages to be home when they are delivered if possible or by having packages delivered to a secure area of your residence or to a neighbor or office.”
