Operation Stonegarden Partners Arrest Dangerous Fugitive

Last week, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents assisted Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputies as they pursued a dangerous fugitive suspected of an assault and robbery, that had fled into a remote desert area west of Gold Canyon.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), agents who were patrolling aboard a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) helicopter as part of Operation Stonegarden, received a request for support from deputies along a rural highway in northern Pinal County regarding the suspect, who was last seen walking into a wilderness hiking area from the scene of the crime.

The PCSO helicopter deployed agents to the area. After an extensive tracking operation, the man was found hiding under a small tree.

Deputies reportedly took the as yet unidentified suspect into custody without incident.
