Previously deported rapist arrested after sneaking across border near Lukeville

MEXICAN NATIONAL ARANDA-RAMIREZ, 31, SERVED TWO YEARS IN PRISON FOR 2009 RAPE IN TENNESSEE

TUCSON – A previously deported Mexican national convicted of aggravated rape, Juan Aranda-Ramirez, 31, was arrested by Border Patrol agents after he entered the U.S. illegally near Lukeville.

Ajo Station Border Patrol agents conducting a  records check during post-arrest processing Monday discovered Aranda-Ramirez was convicted of aggravated rape in Tennessee in 2009. Aranda was sentenced to two years in prison for his crime before being removed from the United States, said a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Aranda will remain in federal custody to face felony immigration prosecution.
