Flagstaff – Flagstaff Police Officer Daniel Beckwith was found dead in Mesa, Arizona of an apparent suicide on March 12, 2019. Officer Beckwith had been on paid leave since June 2018 for medical reasons and living in the Mesa area with his wife.
On March 12, 2019 Mesa Police were called to Officer Beckwith’s residence regarding a report of a Suicidal Subject. Upon their arrival, he was discovered deceased by police. There were no other persons at the home when police arrived, according the Flagstaff Police Department.
Beckwith was involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting in February of 2018 when he and and another officer shot a 78-year-old suspect after he failed to comply with orders.
Both officers were placed on paid administrative leave and later cleared of any wrongdoing from that incident.
Officer Beckwith had been with the Police Department since July of 2014.
