Coconino County male jailed on murder charges for allegedly stabbing his wife

TIMOTHY M. DURAN WAS ARRESTED ON INTERSTATE 17 AS HE FLED THE SCENE

DONEY PARK —  Timothy M. Duran, 38, of Doney Park, was arrested Thursday for the stabbing death of his 35-year-old wife, Crystal L. Morgan. Duran was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on preliminary charges of first-degree homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of domestic violence in progress at about 7 a.m. Thursday in the Doney Park area, said a release from the sheriff’s office.

When they arrived, they found that Crystal Morgan had been stabbed repeatedly. Medics arrived a short time later. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the deputies were en route, they were told that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle, and was headed southbound on Interstate 17.

Northern Arizona law enforcement agencies were contacted, to assist in apprehending the suspect. The vehicle the suspect was travelling in was located southbound on I-17 near the McGuireville exit. A traffic stop was initiated with the assistance of the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the release said.
