Cochise County Clerk Issues Jury Scam Warning

With reports of scams coming in, the Cochise County Clerk of the Superior Court is reminding residents to be wary of jury duty scams.

“Due to recent jury scam activity we are asking everyone to be careful,” said Clerk of the Superior Court Amy Hunley.

“Don’t give out personal information by phone or email, and report suspicious activity immediately to your local law enforcement agency,” added Hunley.

According to the Clerk:

Residents will never receive a telephone call or email from a court officer asking for payment, a credit card, or social security number, for failure to appear for jury duty.

If a person does fail to appear for jury service, a notice will be emailed which will read as follows: “Dear Juror: Our records indicate that you were scheduled for jury service and you FAILED TO APPEAR. You must contact this office at the phone number below immediately. Failure to comply with this request may result in a fine. 520-432-8585.”
