Chandler Police Release Video Of Removal Of Sick Child From Home

In response to critics, who claimed the officers were out of line when they breached the front door of a family’s home in February, the Chandler Police Department has released footage of the hours long encounter.

The incident occurred on February 25, after the mother of a 2-year-old child, who is not vaccinated, took her child to a naturopathic doctor with a fever of 105 degrees, according to KNXV.

According to Chandler Police Department, the doctor instructed the mother to take the child to the emergency room immediately, but the parents claim that the child’s fever later broke, so the mother, Sarah Beck, took her child home instead.

After the doctor discovered that the child was not taken to the Cardon Children’s Hospital, she called Arizona DCS, who then contacted the Chandler Police Department for assistance.

Chandler Police officers made contact with the child’s father, Brooks Bryce, by phone to request a welfare check. Bryce refused to allow officers in to check on the child.

Officers were eventually dispatched to the home around 10:24 p.m. The parents refused to come to the door and officers said they could hear a child coughing and other voices inside.

At approximately 1:24 a.m., police breached the door.

Both parents were charged with one count of child abuse. All three children are currently staying with their grandparents, who were granted temporary custody.
