Pierce Sworn Into Office, Replaces Stringer

PHOENIX – Steve Pierce was sworn into office on Wednesday to fill the vacancy in Legislative District 1 created with the resignation of David Stringer.

Stringer resigned after 30-year-old allegations of sexual abuse of two minor males against him resurfaced.

“It’s wonderful to welcome Steve Pierce as the newest member of the House of Representatives,” said Speaker Bowers in a press release. “I’m confident that Representative Pierce will make an immediate impact and will do an outstanding job representing Legislative District 1.”

Pierce was a member of the Arizona Senate from 2009-2017 and served as President of the Senate from 2011-2012.
