Sierra Vista Couple Arrested On Drug Run

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a Sierra Vista woman, Amber Ayala, for the possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale on Tuesday, April 30, after conducting a traffic stop south of Huachuca City. The driver, Adam Moreno, also of Sierra Vista, was also arrested for possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) detectives learned Ayala, age 34, was selling large quantities of drugs in the Sierra Vista area. SVPD detectives then discovered that Ayala was traveling back to Sierra Vista from the Tucson area on Tuesday, April 30.

Agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents located the vehicle used by Ayala and surveillance was established on the vehicle. Multiple units with HSI and SVPD conducted surveillance on Tuesday, April 30, and a traffic stop was made on the vehicle as it traveled southbound between Sierra Vista and Huachuca City.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine and evidence of methamphetamine for sale. Investigators located 2.96 grams of methamphetamine and 1.32 pounds of liquid methamphetamine. The investigation revealed that

Ayala was booked into the Cochise County Jail for possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug for sale, transportation of a dangerous drug for sale, tampering with evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Moreno was booked into Cochise County Jail for possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
