Tucson Teen Killed By Friend In Accidental Shooting

Tucson Police are investigating a shooting that took the life of 17-year-old Roman Serna on Sunday on Tucson’s East Side.

According to Tucson Police, on May 26, 2019, just after 2:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 7300 block of East Marigold Circle after a 911 caller reported that a shooting had occurred in the residence.

Officers found Roman unresponsive inside the residence with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Members of the Tucson Fire Department immediately transported him to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

Tucson Police Homicide Unit detectives determined that Roman was visiting at a friend’s residence. The friend was showing him the loaded firearm when it discharged striking the victim. The friend’s mother was present at the residence and called 911.
