Goodyear Police Arrest Donut Cook, Twins For Sugar N Spice Armed Robbery

Three men, Joseph Conklin, a donut cook, and twin brothers Terrell and Durrell Whitfield of Peoria have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of the Sugar n Spice bakery on January 13, 2019.

Goodyear Police say the twins entered and robbed the Sugar n Spice bakery, near Indian School Road and Wigwam Boulevard at gunpoint around 12:30 a.m. on January 13.

The suspects allegedly took a victim’s phone, all three victims’ wallets, ID’s, and about $500 cash from the bakery.

According to Goodyear Police, detectives learned that the twins were selling Fentanyl pills to Joseph; the robbery occurred to settle Joseph’s drug debt.

On June 4, Goodyear Police took Joseph into custody after a traffic stop. Joseph was interviewed and gave a full confession. He was booked into 4th Avenue Jail and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Armed Robbery.

Terrell was taken into custody without incident and booked into 4th Avenue Jail on Aggravated Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon. Durrell, who was already in custody on an unrelated charge, was also charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon.
