6 More Unconfirmed Deaths As Border Violence Continues

Unofficial death toll from incidents on Friday stands at 6

DOUGLAS – Arizona officials are closely monitoring the continued cartel violence in the town of Agua Prieta, Sonora and along the U.S. Mexico border.

On Friday afternoon, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office announced that the violence has continued and the “unofficial death toll from incidents today is at 6.”

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey tweeted out assurances that his office is “closely monitoring this situation and in contact with federal and local law enforcement partners.”

According to the Douglas Police Department, on Friday morning two shootings occurred at about 9:30 am.

Douglas Police are advising residents “to avoid the area or exercise vigilance if traveling to Agua Prieta and neighboring areas. The Port of Entry in Douglas is currently open.”
