A Tucson pedestrian, 45-year-old Jerry Penalver, was struck and killed by a vehicle on the afternoon of June 27, 2019, at the intersection of North Oracle Road and West Ft. Lowell Road.

According to Tucson Police, Mr. Penalver was crossing Oracle Road from west to east while inside the crosswalk. The traffic signal for east and westbound traffic was green. As he was crossing, he was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet ¾ ton Pickup Truck that made a right turn onto northbound Oracle from westbound Ft. Lowell.

The driver immediately stopped and cooperated with the investigation.

Tucson Police do not believe speed was a factor in the collision and there were no signs or symptoms of impairment from the driver. No charges or citations have been issued.
