A Yavapai County man, 47-year-old Charles Gregory Jones, has been arrested for the Attempted Murder of his 69-year-old mother at her home in Ashfork.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), Jones was arrested in a remote area off Crookton Road and I-40, west of Ash Fork due to the “diligent work by YCSO teams involving aerial surveillance and ground searches which were instrumental in the locating the partially hidden suspect vehicle and eventually the suspect.”

Jones was taken into custody without incident. He was armed with a handgun and knife.

The Yavapai Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Jones after he stabbed his mother and fled from her home on Rocky Hill Road in her vehicle. Jones was on his mother’s property in violation of an order of protection.

Jones’ mother suffered extensive but not life-threatening injuries.
