Homicide Suspect Shot By Phoenix Police Officer During Carjacking Attempt

TOLLESON — A homicide suspect was shot and killed by a Phoenix Police officer in Tolleson shortly after 8 a.m. on Friday.

Phoenix Police officers were following a homicide suspect near 87th Avenue and Van Buren Street when the suspect realized he was being followed.

The suspect allegedly rammed an unmarked police vehicle, then ditched his own vehicle and attempted to carjack another.

In response, officers tried to stop the carjacking. The suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at officers. An officer then fired his weapon at the suspect.

The unidentified suspect was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No officers were injured during the incident.

Police say the suspect was initially wanted after a homicide that occurred on August 17 near 33rd Avenue and Buckeye Road.
