Yuma Sector Border Patrol Agents Provide Aid To Stroke Victim

YUMA – U.S. Border Patrol agents working at the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint provided emergency medical care to a 63-year-old woman who was suffering a stroke.

Last Thursday, at approximately 2:40 p.m., agents working the checkpoint were advised by a driver that his mother, a passenger in the vehicle, was having a stroke. Agents immediately directed them to the secondary inspection area and requested emergency medical services.

Several agents certified as emergency medical technicians were able to evaluate the 63-year-old woman and provide emergency care in order to stabilize her until an ambulance arrived. She was transported to the local regional medical center by ambulance for further care.
