Tucson Police Arrest Roommate In West Side Homicide

The Tucson Police Department is investigating the death of 44 year-old John M. Becker which occurred on Thursday afternoon on the west side.

According to the Tucson Police Department, on September 5, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a 911 call was made from an apartment located at 235 E. Mohave Road. The 911 caller, 39 year-old David J. Sassaman requested police response and an ambulance for his roommate, Mr. Becker. When officers arrived, Sassaman came out of the apartment to speak with officers.

When officers entered the apartment, they found Mr. Becker dead and with obvious signs of blunt force trauma.

Detectives believe that the roommates were alone in the apartment when a physical confrontation ensued between them.

Sassaman was charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He was transported and is currently being held in Pima County Jail.
