Maricopa County Attorney Vacancy Application Deadline Nears

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors accepted the resignation of Bill Montgomery on September 9 and defined the process for filling the vacancy, which included creating a selection committee.

Applications for review by the committee will be accepted through Wednesday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m.

  • The citizen committee will review resumes, letters of recommendation, and questionnaires between September 18 and October 1. They may choose to interview some candidates.
  • The committee will submit a list of recommendations to the Board on October 1.
  • The Board will choose a new county attorney in the following days or weeks. This choice will be solely at the Board’s discretion and may or may not be one of the recommended candidates.

The applicant must be a Maricopa County resident over the age of 18; a licensed attorney; and, like Montgomery, a registered Republican.
