An Arizona photographer, Jonathan Williams, has been selected as the photo editor for Vice President Mike Pence. Williams, who hails from Maricopa, is a devout christian who credits God and hard work for his success.

In a recent interview on KFYI’s James T. Harris show Williams described his fascinating journey into political-based photography. According to Williams, his wife Kylie had participated in Bible study with Jamie Smith, wife of former Arizona State Senator Steve Smith.

Kylie and Jamie arranged for the two men to talk and Williams asked Smith, “Hey man, I’m new to this politics stuff can I come and take your picture?” Smith said, “Sure.”

Williams was off an running. “I joined Steve up at the Capitol and the rest is history,” Williams told Harris.

Smith introduced Williams to AZGOP chair Dr. Kellie Ward, former Speaker of the House and current State Senator J.D. Mesnard, and Governor Doug Ducey.

Eventually he met Brandon Tatum, with Turning Point U.S.A. Tatum invited Williams to join him and Harris at the Black Leadership Summit at the White House to take pictures. Williams grabbed the chance and made the most of it. “I love networking, and meeting people,” Williams told Harris.

Later, Williams “connected with the Vice-President’s people on Instagram.” It was through that social media avenue that Williams scored his job with the Vice-President.

“From the day I first met Jonathan Williams, it was obvious to see he was full of talent and passionate about political photography, but he was also very clear on what his ultimate goal was, becoming the photographer for the President of the United States,” Smith told the ADI. “Now that he has just been hired as the photo editor for Vice President Pence, Jonathan is well in his way to achieving that goal. I am so incredibly proud of him and thankful that know he will continue to use his God given talents for ‘We the People.'”
