Prescott Resident Arrested For Hit And Run Of Chino Valley Bicyclist

Prescott resident, 43-year-old Chad Avilla is in custody in connection with a hit and run collision that sent a bicyclist to the hospital that occurred on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at approximately 6:48 p.m.

According to the Chino Valley Police Department, officers responded to a call regarding a 16-year-old Chino Valley bicyclist laying in a ditch in the 500 block of west Center Street. The teen was airlifted due to his injuries and is listed in stable condition.

Chino Valley officers and detectives recovered vehicle parts from the scene. Through investigation the make and model of the involved vehicle was identified as a 2012-2013 GMC or Chevrolet Pickup.

The investigation led officers to Avilla.

On Sunday, October 27, 2019, Avilla was located at his residence. He was taken into custody without incident and his vehicle, a white 2013 GMC Sierra, was recovered at his residence.

Avilla was booked into the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office jail on charges of Aggravated Assault, Endangerment, Failure to stop for an injury accident and failure to assist and render first aide.
