AC repairman not guilty in Surprise customer shooting death

SURPRISE — A Maricopa County jury has found 27-year-old Robert Moore not guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a Surprise resident. Moore claimed a customer, 41-year-old Frank Pineda, attacked him, and he shot him in self-defense.

In July 2018, Moore was reportedly doing air conditioning work Pineda’s home near Citrus Road and Grand Avenue in Surprise. According to Moore, Pineda was angry that the repair was taking so long. Pineda demanded half of the $200 back. In response, Moore then threw a $100 bill on the ground.

Moore’s attorney, Pineda, who was allegedly high on meth, suddenly started beating him.

The evidence showed that Moore was on the ground and Pineda was on top of him when Moore shot him in the head.
