Body Of Missing Kansas 90-Year-Old Man Found Near Yuma

On Sunday, November 25, 2019, the body of James Lewis Larson, age 90, of Sharpsburg, Iowa was found near the Kofa Wildlife Refuge by members of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit. A Silver Alert was issued for Mr. Larson last week.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), “at approximately 12:20 a.m., the YCSO Search and Rescue Unit, along with the assistance of the Civil Air Patrol Units, located Mr. Larson deceased in a wash near a trail in the Kofa Wildlife Refuge, near the northern boundary of the YPG Kofa Firing Range. His vehicle was located nearby, high centered and stuck on a ledge.”

On Thursday, November 21, 2019, at approximately 12:51 p.m., the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in searching for Mr. Larson in the area of Highway 95 between La Paz County and Yuma County.

Mr. Larson was last seen on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. He was traveling from Iowa to Yuma; however, he had not shown up in Yuma as of November 21st.
