Huachuca City Woman Killed In Highway 90 Head-On Collision

Cochise County – A Huachuca City woman, Lisa Martinez, was killed and a Sierra Vista man was flown to a Tucson hospital early this morning, both victims of a head-on collision on Highway 90 at Airport Road.

Sierra Vista Police arrived on the scene just before 6 a.m. this morning, where they found two vehicles with extensive front-end damage blocking the northbound lanes of Highway 90.

Witnesses said that the driver of a green Pontiac minivan crossed over the center line and struck a sliver Buick four-door sedan. The driver of the Pontiac, Ms. Martinez, age 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Buick, John Bolgen, 66 of Sierra Vista, was flown to a Tucson hospital for treatment.

Traffic was diverted around the accident on Highway 90, slowing traffic for about 90 minutes while police investigated the scene and crews removed the wreckage.

Accident reconstructionists from the Sierra Vista Police Department are still investigating the collision. It is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
