ASU Students Warned About Social Media After Residence Hall Rape

ASU Police are warning students again about meeting strangers through social media platforms after a student was allegedly raped on Monday afternoon.

According to ASU Police, at 3:40 p.m., they received a report of a sexual assault which occurred in the early morning hours in a residential hall on the Tempe campus. Based on the information received, the victim met the suspect on a social media platform.

The suspect, described as an Hispanic male, 40-45 years of age, possibly gained the victim’s trust by misrepresenting his actual age and/or identity online. Upon meeting, the suspect became physically aggressive and proceeded to sexually assault the female student.
