Douglas Man Arrested For Failed Marijuana Smuggling Attempt

TUCSON – On Tuesday, a U.S. citizen was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers after the man was caught trying to smuggle nearly 390 pounds of marijuana through the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas, Arizona.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the 41-year-old Douglas, Arizona, man was referred by agents for a secondary inspection of his vehicle when he attempted to enter the U.S. through the port.

After a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the scent of the drugs, officers discovered nearly 300 packages of drugs throughout the vehicle.

The drugs weighed 389 pounds and have an estimated value of $117,000.
