Chandler Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck Twice

Chandler resident, 38-year-old Maria Armendariz, was killed on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, around 6:00 a.m. after being struck by two vehicles.

According to Chandler Police, Ms. Armendariz was struck by a white 2005 Peterbilt semi-truck as it pulled out of a private driveway at 400 East Ray Road. Moments later, she was struck by a red 1998 Ford Expedition. She was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

The operator of the Expedition remained at the scene.

The driver of the Peterbilt continued westbound on Ray Road to his destination in Buckeye, according to Mesa Police. Investigators contacted the driver of the Peterbilt and learned he was unaware of his involvement in this collision.

Detectives say that there is no indication of impairment or distraction on the part of any party involved. No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued at this time.
