Shooter Dead, Two victims shot outside Desert Sky Mall

PHOENIX — An attempted carjacking suspect is dead after injuring two people and ramming a police car on Monday morning outside of Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix.

A 56-year-old woman and a man in his 50s were taken to the hospital, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m., outside of the mall at 75th Avenue and Thomas Road.

The suspect initially held a woman at gunpoint inside her vehicle. When he tried to force her to drive to another location, she was able to run away after being shot by the suspect.

The suspect then tried to steal another woman’s vehicle. A man heard the woman’s cries for help and while trying to help her, he was shot.

The suspect then used the stolen truck to ram a police vehicle. Officers stopped the stolen truck and shot an killed the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
