3 Shuttle Vans In 3 Hours Yield 3 Smugglers, Fentanyl, Heroin

TUCSON – On Friday, three smugglers on on three separate passenger shuttles were arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents for attempting to smuggle narcotics through the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint near Amado.

The first accused smuggler, a 40-year-old U.S. citizen female was was found to have 430 grams of heroin hidden under her clothing. The routine immigration inspection of a commercial shuttle van by Tucson Sector agents occurred at 11:00 a.m.

At approximately noon, agents inspecting a second commercial shuttle discovered a bundle of heroin, weighing 561 grams, hidden in the clothing of a 40-year-old Mexican female.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, at about 1:30 p.m., agents found a bundle of drugs in the pocket of a 22-year-old Mexican male during the routine inspection of a third shuttle. The drugs weighed 112 grams and tested positive as fentanyl.
