Border Patrol Agents Intercept 2 Large Loads Of Fentanyl, Meth At I-8 Checkpoint

YUMA – Over the weekend, at the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint, Yuma Sector Border Patrol intercepted two large loads of Fentanyl, and meth.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, on Saturday morning, a 29-year-old female U.S. citizen from El Centro, California, was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance. A drug sniffing canine alerted to the drugs in the woman’s blue Jeep Liberty. Agents discovered 60 packages of methamphetamine and five packages of Fentanyl hidden in various parts of the vehicle. She was also physically carrying heroin and drug paraphernalia. The seized methamphetamine weighed nearly 73 pounds with a total street value of more than $167,000. The five bundles of Fentanyl weighed more than 13 pounds.

A 22-year-old male, who is a United States citizen was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance after a canine sniffed out meth in his vehicle. Agents discovered 56 packages of methamphetamine in both rear quarter panels and inside the spare tire. The narcotics weighed nearly 61 pounds with an approximate street value of more than $139,000.
