Border Patrol Agents Arrest Teen Smuggler Recruited By Cartel

TUCSON – Two teens have been arrested in separate incidents by U.S. Border Patrol agents working the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint near Amado.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in the second incident, a young male driving his father’s car was referred to secondary inspection by Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents. Agents found 40 packages of meth, weighing approximately 45 pounds, concealed inside the vehicle’s door and quarter panels. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $45,000.

The unidentified teen was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
