PHOENIX – Jairo Contreras Quintero was sentenced to 25.75 years in prison and Laura Dagnino was sentenced 3.5 years in prison in connection with the death of Bane, a Phoenix police K-9. The sentences are a result of a plea deal.
In 2018, the two carjackers led police on a car chase. After police deployed spike strips around 27th and Glendale avenues, Dagnino was arrested and Quintero escaped. He ended up in an empty house and had standoff with police.
K9 Bane was sent into the home. Quintero then killed Bane, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois.
