
WHITERIVER – On Saturday, family, friends and fellow officers of fallen White Mountain Apache Police Officer David Kellywood gathered for his funeral service in Whiteriver, Arizona.
Officer Kellywood was killed in the line of duty February 17 while responding to a call near the Hon-Dah Resort and Casino.
”Today is about David,” said White Mountain Apache Councilman Jerold Altaha at the beginning of the service.
Officer Keyllywood’s funeral was held at the Chief Alchesay Activity Center
The eulogy was delivered by White Mountain Apache Police Chief Ted Shaw. “David loved this community and law enforcement, but more importantly he loved his wife Kamellia, his sons Gabriel, and David Jr., his mother Florence, his brother Kenny, his sister Delphina and his sister Rena,” said a solemn Chief Shaw. “Your husband, father, son and brother gave the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow man and I give you my word his legacy and dedication to this community will never be forgotten.”
On Friday, a procession traveled from Taylor to the Chief Alchesay Activity Center. Communities all along the route came out in support.
