Woman Arrested After Calling Cops For Welfare Check Of Victim

TUCSON – A woman who called Tucson Police requesting a welfare check on the man she had shot and killed.

According to the Tucson Police Department (TPD), on May 5, 2020, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a welfare check at an apartment complex located at 3003 N. Alvernon Way. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reportee, 36-year-old Jessica Siegfried, outside of an apartment. She told officers that she went to an acquaintance’s apartment after not hearing from him for some time and received no answer at the door. After gathering initial information, officers made entry to the apartment to conduct a welfare check.

Officers found Angel Essono with obvious signs of trauma. He was declared deceased on scene.

As detectives continued their investigation they developed information that led them to the arrested of Siegfried.

Siegfried was charged with robbery and 1st degree murder. She is currently being held in the Pima County Jail.
