TUCSON – A 37-year-old Mesa woman has been arrested for smuggling two illegal aliens in her trunk.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint near Amado, Arizona, referred the woman’s vehicle to a secondary inspection.
Agents subsequently located two Mexican national men, both illegally present in the United States, concealed in the vehicle’s trunk.
CBP says both men will face immigration violations while the unnamed woman, currently on parole for a previous narcotics conviction, will be charged federally for human smuggling.
