Flags Fly At Half-Staff To Honor Glendale Helicopter Pilot Killed Fighting Polles Fire

PHOENIX — On Wednesday, flags flew at half-staff upon the order of Governor Doug Ducey to honor helicopter pilot Bryan Boatman.

Boatman, a resident of Glendale, Arizona, was killed Tuesday in a helicopter crash while helping firefighters contain the Polles Fire on the Tonto National Forest in Gila County.

Boatman, age 37, died after conducting standard supply missions to the crews fighting the flames in remote areas. The crash occurred 10 miles west of Payson.

Boatman is survived by his wife and an 8-year-old child.
