Peoria Police Officer Funeral Procession To Close Parts of Loop 101, I-17 T At Times

PHOENIX – On Tuesday, July 14, a funeral procession for Peoria Police Officer Jason Judd will make its way along sections of eastbound Loop 101 in the northwest Valley and southbound Interstate 17 in Phoenix.

Drivers using either eastbound Loop 101 or southbound I-17 while the procession is underway after 11 a.m. Tuesday are asked to plan ahead for temporary closures and stopped traffic at times.

Following a morning service for Officer Judd at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Road in Peoria, the procession will enter eastbound Loop 101 via southbound 67th Avenue, continue from Loop 101 to southbound on I-17 and travel south of the I-10 “Stack” interchange.

Sections of closed freeways as well as closed ramps will reopen as soon as possible after the procession has passed, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers in the area can expect the following restrictions to be in place at times between approximately 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday:

  • Northbound/eastbound Loop 101 and on-ramps closed in areas between Bell Road and I-17.
  • Southbound I-17 and on-ramps closed between Loop 101 in north Phoenix and Seventh Street near downtown.
  • Westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 67th Avenue closed.
  • Westbound Loop 101 ramp to southbound I-17 closed.

Drivers are asked to consider alternate routes to avoid possible delays.
