Officers found Mr. Watts unconscious and bleeding heavily from the leg. Officers immediately rendered first aid including applying a tourniquet and CPR. Paramedics arrived and continued CPR, but were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead on scene.

According to the Oro Valley Police Department, officers found the handgun along with the spent cartridge casing inside his clothing.
