PINAL COUNTY – An accused ammunition thief is in custody after security cameras captured him breaking into a private shooting range located south of Florence.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the owner of the range contacted them after finding he had been burglarized.
Security cameras caught Shawn Strickler, 39, cutting the locks on the gate to the property the day prior.
The owner discovered a locked shipping container had been broken into, and a large amount of ammunition and target shooting supplies had been stolen.
Just three hours later, PCSO deputies located and arrested Strickler at a residence in Florence. He was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on trespassing and burglary charges.
Most of the stolen items have been recovered.
