Superstition Fire Activity Increases, Meddler Fire Burns 3,400 Acres

The Superstition Fire, which started on August 20, continues to burn north of Gold Canyon in the Superstition Wilderness. The lightning-caused fire has consumed 1,707 acres.

According to fire managers. the fire is not a threat to any communities at this time. The fire is burning in an area inaccessible to ground units, in a very remote and rugged canyon.

The Meddler Fire is burning in the Cherry Creek area off FS Road 203, 7 miles northeast of Roosevelt. The fire is burning in grass and light brush.

Firefighters are working to mitigate threats to 10 outbuildings, 5 residences, and 500kV powerlines.

There are no evacuations in effect at this time, however, the Rockhouse Community has been placed on “SET” status.
