Penzone’s Attack On Sheridan Misses Mark

Paul Penzone

Maricopa County voters got to see Sheriff Paul Penzone’s detective skills at work over the weekend and it was not pretty. Penzone aimed a campaign media attack on his Republican rival, Jerry Sheridan, that missed the mark.

Missed the mark by a lot.

Penzone erroneously claimed that Sheridan was going to be joining the College Republicans United (CRU) for a fundraiser for Kyle Rittenhouse; the 17-year-old who is accused of killing two protestors in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Penzone’s allegation lit up social media. Quite a few voters/followers/friends took exception to the negative nature of Penzone’s style, although most critical comments were quickly scrubbed.

Several others seemed to rally to the side of Rittenhouse and accepted the teen’s self-defense argument.

But the real story is that there is no such fundraiser and never was. Something Penzone could have figured out if he had done a little bit of “police work.”

Sheridan responded to Penzone’s attack:

And during a Facebook Live on Sunday night, Sheridan reiterated these facts while pointing out that in addition to sloppy detective work, Penzone didn’t even spell Rittenhouse’s name correctly.
