Cottonwood Woman Runs Over Ex-Boyfriend, Steals His Phone And Dogs

A 39-year-old Cottonwood resident, Melissa Jean Manier, is in custody after she hit her ex-boyfriend with a car, stole his phone, and his dogs.

Manier was arrested on Sunday, August 30 at approximately 4:00 a.m.in the 300 block of West State Route 89A for burglary, two counts of interfering with judicial proceedings, and theft after it was discovered that she illegally entered her ex-boyfriend’s motel room located in the 900 block of South Camino Real in Cottonwood.

Manier was charged with felony DUI and aggravated assault per domestic violence after she ran over her ex-boyfriend in the 600 block of East Date Street earlier in the month. As part of her conditions of release she was to remain a law abiding citizen at all times, not have any contact with the victim nor consume any alcohol.

Early Sunday morning, Manier’s ex-boyfriend contacted the Cottonwood Police to report that she unlawfully entered his motel room and stole his cellphone and two dogs. Later in the morning officers located Manier at a different motel where she was found to be in possession of the master key to the victim’s hotel room, had his cellphone and the two dogs. In addition, Manier had consumed alcohol.

Manier was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center for burglary, theft and interfering with judicial proceedings. She is currently in custody on a no bond hold.
