Tucson Police Investigate Double Homicide In Midtown

Tucson Police are investigating the shooting deaths of Manaury Acevedo and Javier Araiza Anaya that occurred on September 18.

According to the Tucson Police Department (TPD), on Friday at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of South Dodge Boulevard and East March Place. Upon arrival, officers located the 21-year-old Acevedo lying in the roadway with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. A handgun was located next to the victim.

Police say there was also a white Chevy Tahoe stopped in the roadway. Members of the community were performing CPR on Acevado until officers took over. Tucson Fire arrived moments later and continued medical treatment; however, he was pronounced deceased on scene.

As officers were canvassing the area for evidence, the 26-year-old Araiza Anayaa was found in a nearby ally with gunshot trauma. Tucson Fire attempted to treat him victim, but he was pronounced deceased on scene.

TPD detectives have determined Acevedo and Ariaza knew each other and were together in the Chevy Tahoe before the shooting occurred. There are currently no suspects in custody.
