Operation Snake Eyes, a law enforcement operation that ran from August 10 through September 17, has resulted in the arrest of 140 violent fugitives, in the Phoenix area.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service the Phoenix, Glendale, Mesa and Tempe police departments, the Department of Public Safety, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Attorney’s Office joined together in the operation.

The operation nabbed 51 gang members, recovered 131 firearms, over $145,000 in cash and 3,027 counterfeit Fentanyl pills.

“One issue that most people will agree with while debating police issues, is that those who intentionally and indiscriminately cause harm, murder and terrorize citizens should be a priority of the criminal justice system,” said U.S. Marshal David Gonzales in a press release.

The Operation Snake Eyes focused on gang members, violent criminals and communities with a “high degree” of gun violence, according to Gonzales.
