When Border Patrol agents pulled over a utility van near Sasabe, they found 23 illegal aliens crammed inside.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Tucson Sector agents stopped the utility van at approximately 5:30 p.m., for an immigration inspection on Arivaca West Rd. As they approached the driver’s side, they could see the van was packed with a multitude of people.
Agents found the 23 aliens without seatbelts or masks.
All but the van’s driver were found to be illegally present in the United States and now face immigration violation charges. The U.S. citizen driver faces federal charges for human smuggling.
