Police Investigating Shooting Death At East Side Tucson Laundromat

TUCSON – Tucson Police are investigating the shooting death of Justin Gervon Chavis at an east side laundromat.

According to the Tucson Police Department, on December 30, 2020, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at a shopping center in the 7400 block of E. 22nd St. When officers arrived, they were directed to a laundromat where bystanders were tending to Chavis.

Officers and Tucson Fire personnel rendered aid to Chavis before he was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 32-year-old Chavis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Detectives say they are actively following up on leads and no suspects have been identified at this time. They are asking anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
