Pima County Sheriff’s deputies arrested over 48 people in connection with illegal drag racing last weekend.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, over the weekend, 9-1-1 call-takers received reports of street racing near Swan Road and Los Reales Road. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department fixed-wing aircraft crew found located a group of approximately 75 vehicles gathered and up to race. Several active races were observed at speeds around 100 miles per hour.
As deputies approached the area, vehicles began to scatter. Deputies were able to locate 30 of the vehicles involved.
During the investigation, deputies located vehicles that were not street legal and were trailered to the location.
Ultimately, the 48 arrestees were released at the scene.
