Phoenix Man Arrested For 2020 Scottsdale Riots Looting

SCOTTSDALE – Scottsdale police have arrested 25-year-old Paul Ruiz for allegedly stealing merchandise from two stores during the 2020 riots in downtown Scottsdale.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, Ruiz is facing 9 felony charges of Burglary and Trafficking Stolen Property relating to his alleged involvement in the May 30 and 31, 2020 Scottsdale riots.

Ruiz was identified as a suspect through his attempts to sell items stolen from Tiffany and Company and Montblanc during the May riots. Additionally, he was captured on store surveillance video during the riots removing merchandise from the stores and was in possession of merchandise from the same stores at the time of his arrest.

The Scottsdale Police Department says Ruiz’s arrest brings the total number of post-incident arrests to 55 for crimes committed during the May 30th and 31st 2020 riots.

Over $235,000.00 worth of merchandise has been returned to victim businesses.
